I’ve been updating our website and Instagram page lately and pouring through weddings from the past and I noticed how many of Katelin and Johnny’s photos are used in our portfolio, so I thought what better wedding to feature for this week’s Throw Back Thursday?
Happy Sunday – happy long weekend!
When I was considering which 2017 to share here on the blog next, I was thinking about how I wanted to showcase one of my favorite wedding venues, The Bride and The Bauer. I usually shoot a few weddings per year there and will soon be sharing another wedding from last June but today I’m so happy to show off what a gorgeous wedding Cori and Adam hosted there last April.
The Bauer has so many fantastic nooks and crannies that are just a photographer’s dream. From the lovely bride’s room and the groom’s “den”, the huge loft sized windows surrounding the main event space and the textured walls….I love utilizing every space they have to offer.
Cori and Adam brought in the most amazing details and were surrounded with joy and love all day. Just look at those amazing bouquets!
I’m so happy to be sharing this couple today because as I looked back thru all of their sessions and their wedding it brought back so many wonderful memories and joy. Kayla is truly one of the nicest people you would ever meet and Brock is so sweet and fun to be around. I’m so lucky that only a few years after their wedding their little one came along meaning I get to see them more often.
Today I’m featuring Maggie and Mason’s wedding from last July because there were so many parts and details from that day that I just love.
Maggie looked absolutely stunning that day and don’t you just adore the paper flower bouquets carried by the bridemaids? A special moment that I’ve never before seen at a wedding was when the DJ (Nick McCabe with Icon Event Group) cleared the dance floor and invited all of the guests outside to prepare for the big exit. Once the room was clear he played one last song for Maggie and Mason to share alone. It was so romantic and sweet and a moment I’m sure they’re remember forever.
It’s engagement season which means it’s also engagement session season! It’s still winter here in KC so we many times have to use the old indoor stand-by Union Station. Luckily Lindsay and Jon were brave enough to step outside for a few before we froze.
For this week’s TBT I’m revisiting Amy and Steve’s wedding from 2012. This wedding was coordinated by a dear friend of mine, Kim Ho of You’re Invited and was hosted at The Foundation in the west bottoms.
In the years since their big day they’ve welcomed two adorable little boys whom I’ve had the pleasure to get to know and work with as well.
In the winter I have some time to breath, catch up and fill up the blog with the previous season’s weddings! With it so cold today (and the promise of some more of the white stuff on the way) I’m dreaming of this beautiful May day that I spent with Courtney and Nate.
I love the way they filled Abe and Jakes with gorgeous spring blooms, custom table numbers on wine bottles and hand-lettered signs.
Ok, ok I’m a day late on my Throwback Thursday. Today I’m sharing a family that I’ve had the pleasure to work with for years and years. It all started however with Haley and Stephen’s engagement session. Since that very windy day at Shawnee Mission Park I’ve be blessed to be with them for their wedding, two other sibling’s weddings, a close friend’s wedding, their children’s baby photos and many members of their family’s new arrivals as well. If you look close at the wedding party photo at The Nelson, you see a “yet to be couple” standing together just to the right of them (years later Haley’s sister and Stephen’s best friend married each other!)
I adore working with this family and I like to think that over the years we’ve become friends.
2018 is off and running! Mallory and I were so happy to spend the day with Beth and Zach on this extraordinarily beautiful January day in Kansas City. Beth said that she always wanted to get married at the Alexander Majors Barn and that dream came true.
I think my favorite part of the day was when their friends and fathers gave speeches about them both as individuals and as a couple. I was stuck by how they all talked of Beth and Zach’s love and compassion for the people closest to them. It was a pleasure to celebrate with them and watch the love on their faces all day.
I really am so very fortunate in so many ways and in the winter when our busy season has slowed, and I have some time to sit back and reflect on all of the wonderful people we’ve worked with that previous year and every year prior to that, I’m always touched by the fact that so many people invite us into their lives for front row seats to the their most amazing times. So many of these amazing families invite us back time and time again when they welcome new babies, need family photos or other big events in their lives.
While setting up the new blog, Instagram page and website, I’ve been pouring thru weddings and family sessions from the past and thought how wonderful it would be to revisit these happy times more often, and thus Throw Back Thursdays on the RPM Blog is born!
This week we’re looking back at Brooke and Scott whom I first met for their 2013 wedding. Since then they’ve welcomed 2 beautiful little ones whom I get to see quite often!
