It’s officially fall which means my days are full of shooting and editing, TONS of shooting and editing and because it’s so crazy busy, it’s difficult to keep up with full blog posts. I do want my late summer/ fall weddings to get a peek at their photos though, so I’m doing sneak peeks to get those couples excited about their pics!
How lucky were we here in Kansas City that we had a relatively mild August so everything was still beautiful and lush and green!
I met Sanam and Eric at her sister’s wedding back in March (Setareh and Michael) and it’s time to start all of the wedding celebrations for these two – starting with engagement photos!
I got to work with my buddy Kim this weekend!
I can’t think of a more fun job than photographing weddings but what makes it even more fun is when you get to work with fellow vendors that you’ve come to know and grow friendships with over the years. I met Kim Ho from You’re Invited years and years ago and whenever I get the chance to work with her, my day is 10x better!
Aly and Chase got married this past weekend at one of our very favorite event venues, Brass On Baltimore. I think my favorite moments of the day were 1. when we were just about to do the 1st look and Aly kept saying “just get me to Chase!” and 2. when Chase saw Aly walk down the aisle. Even though they’d already seen each other earlier in the day, you could just see the excitement on his face because he knew that in just a few minuets, she was going to be his wife!
The design and planning were done by You’re Invited, Florals: Botanica Floral Design, Stationary: Nellie Sparkman, Cake: Hyvee, Caterer: Brancatos, DJ: Jukeboxx Entertainment, Video: Rainy Day Productions.
I don’t know how they ordered such perfect weather that day but for two people getting married in Kansas City, in August, the wedding gods certainly smiled on them that day!
Addie and JM’s beautiful country club wedding was celebrated with friends and family at Villiage Presbyterian and then at Indian Hills Country Club. Don’t you just love the girl’s gowns!? They were the perfect cut to work with every body type and that rich navy blue was the perfect accent to such a gorgeous location. All that navy & ivory!!
The event was coordinated by Lisa at Millie’s Event Designs. She worked hard to make sure every detail was right and everyone was where they needed to be. The beautiful personal flowers, centerpieces and alter pieces were designed by Gregory’s Fine Floral. We worked alongside Baysinger Films who provided the video and Galaxy entertained the party all evening with live music.
Happy Birthday, little Sammy!
I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to work with this amazing family since Kara and John (Mom and Dad to John Frank and Sammy) got engaged. In fact, we shot their engagement photos at this exact location so it was perfect for little Sammy’s One year session. These kids made my job so easy – they’re absolutely adorable and so photogenic!
With school starting today and summer winding down, this is the perfect blog feature because Laura is a teacher and is starting her new year with a new name!
Laura and Quinn said their “I do’s” on the amazing rooftop of Terrace on Grand just a few weekends ago and everywhere you turned were personal touches. Navy and Gold with beautiful eucalyptus sprigs everywhere. The entire design and most of the leg work done by Laura herself. The florals were done by Wildhill Flowers and they perfectly accented all the lady’s dusty blue gowns. Laura’s gown from Gown Gallery fit to perfection and the underlayment of the gown added just the slightest bit of warmth to the beautiful ivory lace overlay.
The beautiful cake was provided by Hyvee and the food by Terrace On Grand. Guests were well fed, well entertained and surrounded by love and beauty all day.
Alexis worked along side me that day, it’s always wonderful to have such a dear friend as my right hand – lady!
Senior season will never be the same for me again. My daughter, Erin is starting High School in 4 days…… 4 DAYS!! I’m about to burst out in tears just writing that. How did we get to high school already?
While there’s lots of reasons for me to be sad that high school is here, there is one very exciting reason…. the seniors that I’m shooting are Erin’s schoolmates! The Moore family has jumped in headfirst and emerged ourselves in SMS culture…..We’re all Raiders now. It was a joy for me to shoot Tanner’s senior photos and integrating his SMS Baseball jersey into the shoot brought in some South school spirit and gave a nod to his favorite sport. I even got the chance to play with (and briefly photograph) his little brother who attends my little’s elementary school.
I love wedding parties that are full of family- it’s so sweet because those people truly are huge parts of the couple’s past, present and future. While they did have a few very close friends in their party, Kristen and Josh filled most of those spots with siblings and what a fun bunch they were. Their flowergirl (and daughter) stole the show and was included in every aspect of the day.
After their ceremony at Westbrooke Baptist Church, we went to Union Station for a few off site photos and then on to Union Horse Distillery for the reception that was full of delicious BBQ, touching speeches and dancing.
