Kansas City Family Photographer | Sweet Little Josie

Posted on

This early summer has been super busy with one year olds!  I am so lucky that so many families ask me back child after child, year after year to capture images of their family history.   I had the pleasure of working with Liz and Josh when they got married and again with Hank, Sam and now little Josie.

These kids are so funny every time I see them – especially that Sam!  There is never a shortage of funny faces or actions coming from him 🙂

Another “S- family” baby has turned one and I got to be there to capture her one year old photos!  This is a family I adore seeing – the kiddos are so sweet and always up for playing for photos.  I’m shocked with how big they’re getting so quickly- I’ve had the pleasure of photographing each of these little people as newborns and again when they’re one – it’s fun seeing them grow up!

Can you believe the smiles on these kids?  I had the pleasure to photograph Harris’s big brother, Nolan’s first birthday photos and cake smash (and Amy and Steve’s engagement and wedding!) so when we got together when it was Harris’s turn, I couldn’t wait to see how he dug into that cake.  Obviously from the mess on his face, he enjoyed the cake!  And doesn’t he look just like Christopher Robin playing in the woods?

I’ve said it a million times, 2 years old is one of my favorite ages.  They’re so funny and active and curious about everything.  They love to talk and have taken control of where they go and what they do.  Max and I spent the morning together recently and he’s changed so much since the last time I saw him.  Life is really about to change as he’ll be a big brother at the end of the summer!

Kansas City Wedding Photographer | Mildale Farm Wedding | Alyssa and Greg

David and I had quite the day at Alyssa and Greg’s wedding!   This  wedding was amazing with a beautiful couple and an amazing wedding party, but we may be a bit biased.  You see, David and I have a special connection with this particular bride,  she was the flower girl at our wedding and is David’s cousin.

Not a corner of Mildale Farm was left untouched.  Chalkboards and lanterns….amazing florals by Wild Hill Flowers and Events and that cake by Adorn Cakes!   Who wouldn’t envy that amazing chandelier hung above the dance floor by Alyssa’s dad, Kevin?

After the sweetest ceremony on the patio, it was time for dinner up at the barn with an amazing meal made by Scrape The Plate.  Everyone (especially my little Emily) danced the night away to the music of Twice On Sunday.  The day truly went off without a hitch with the help and coordination of Stephanie from Pretty and Planned – their wedding coordinator.

Where were you when “Ricky Batwings” (Shawnee Mission West’s hottest cover band)  reunited for a one night only performance?

I was so happy to return to Hawthorn House for Matt and Ariel’s wedding because it truly is one of Kansas City’s best wedding venues.  With a gorgeous New England Style chapel for your ceremony, then the amazing grounds and ballroom for your reception, everything can be kept on site which is so nice for both you and your guests.

This day was full of both fun and touching moments, from Ariel’s fun and quirky walk down the aisle to Matt’s high school band rocking the reception- with DJ Fernando adding in a little cowbell!   So many details were uniquely personal to them.  Take a peek at Ariel’s gorgeous bouquet (designed by our dear friend, Rosemary Clyde at Final Touch Studios).  Matt’s mom loaned Ariels that amazing antique broach for a little “something borrowed”.

Kansas City Newborn and Family Photographer | Hello World, I’m Maggie!

Some of you may remember Alex and Lauren from the engagement photos, wedding photos, their newborn twins (Emmy and Bennett) and now….. Miss Maggie is here!

I’m a firm believer that newborn photos should include more than just the baby- I like to include the parents, the siblings, the nursery, even pets when they’re part of the family because the birth of a child isn’t an event in a vacuum… everyone is involved, even the home!  While Maggie grabbed a snack the twins and I go the chance to grab some photos in the front yard (those little $6 umbrellas I bought from Hobby Lobby have been such a great prop for tiny people.  They LOVE them and we get the cutest expressions while they play with them) .   Don’t forget to check out Emmy side-eyeing her mom!

Kansas City Senior| Downtown Kansas City Senior Session| Nicholas, Class of 2019

It’s that time of year.  “Senior Season”!  Because I’m a “Lifetime Photographer”, I photograph all phases of life: everything from Babies, Children, Families, Weddings and of course graduating seniors!

I love designing senior sessions around the individual’s talents and interests.  Nicholas is a music lover who is a percussionist at SMS so hanging out in a record shop (while we waited for some pop-up showers to pass) and near the preforming arts district of Kansas City were perfect nods to what he loves.

KU Engagement Session | Lawrence Wedding Photographer | Alyssa and Greg

This session and this bride hold a special place for David and I.  Alyssa was our flower girl 18 years ago when we got married and in just 2 weeks, she and Greg will be saying “I do”.  Alyssa is David’s cousin so that wedding day will be not only a work day for us but also a family event!

Alyssa and Greg are both engineers and met at KU in their engineering school so The KU Campus was the perfect spot for their engagement photos.  We certainly got our steps in walking up and down the hills but it was well worth it when we ended at Potter’s Lake at sunset.
