What’s better than your team advancing to the final four? Getting married…. how about your team advancing to the Final Four on your wedding day and Big Jay stops by the reception to celebrate with you!
Setareh and Michael were married at Beth Torah with their reception at the Overland Park Marriott. Setareh’s amazing gown from Mia’s Bridal was absolutely the centerpiece of this amazing day – she looked exactly like a princess. Her gorgeous bouquet by Branches and Twigs complimented her gown and coordinated perfectly with the bridemaid’s dresses. Michael couldn’t take his eyes off her all day and who could blame him – she was a vision! It was a joy for Mallory and I to spend the day with these two and their families.
What I love about Kansas City is that it has such a unique history and The Little Theater Inside Municipal Auditorium is so amazingly “Kansas City”. I’m in love with the art deco design and marble floors and if you keep your eyes peeled you can even find period photos showing parties and concerts hosted there back in the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.
Maddi’s gown and Danny’s class black tux perfectly complemented the style of the venue – a touch of vintage but perfectly modern. The day was made beautiful by Once Upon A Table (coordinator) DJ Connection, Maple Lane Designs (florals), Sugar Beats Bake Shop (cakes), and Brancatos Catering.
Alexis and I had an amazing time spending the day with these to fabulous families – we’re excited to see them again when Maddi’s sister gets married in September!
This week’s “Throwback Thursday” is from Ashley and Rudy’s spring wedding just a few years ago. I think we can all agree that Ashely was absolutely STUNNING and I’m still in love with the pre-ceremony photos we shot at her parent’s home that day. Their property is absolutely gorgeous and because it had rained that morning, there was glow in the environment that gave a fairytale feel to their images. It was magical!
I rounded out my weekend of engagement sessions with Loran and Dustin. By the start of our session, the wind had kicked up and the clouds had rolled in but they toughed out the chilly wind for some gorgeous Downtown Kansas City skyline photos! They’ll be celebrating their wedding at one of Kansas City’s most gorgeous outdoor locations but it’s more of a rustic aesthetic so getting some downtown shots for their engagement session is a nice juxtaposition.
Spring is tip toeing into Kansas City and we’re all itching to get outside! What a beautiful evening spent in Parkville and along the river with this sweet family!
Today’s Throwback Thursday isn’t much of a throwback – it was this time last year we were celebrating this amazing wedding (one of my very favorites of all time). Ok, ok, I’m pretty biased this was one of my favorite weddings because these are two of my favorite people. My brother, Brian was one of the grooms and my brother from another mother, Grant was the other. I flew into Atlanta in time to be at their civil ceremony on March 1st (happy legal wedding day today!!) and then 3 days later on Saturday we celebrated again with their ceremony and reception for friends and family. Our close family friend (my parent’s next door neighbor for the last 30 years) Judge Charles Droege officiated the ceremony which made it even more special for the Douglass family and I not only shot the photos, with tons of help from David but I also had the honor of doing a reading and giving a toast which I only bawled about half way through. Ok maybe all the way through. I wish I could step back in time and relive that week- it was so special and fun and we all had a ball!
